Windows Vista RC1 Activation problem

Talk about persistence! Vista RC1 validation is one a lot issue that I couldn’t find a proper solution (for this case even MS!) I had this strange error, “Unknown Error while trying to validate”.

Guess what are the options? Only “Cancel”. Since the 14days time period got over, Vista now runs only in reduced functionality mode. Alright, first you all have to understand this is just a pre-release and is bound to have some bugs. Because of this error, I was not able to activate my copy of Vista RC1; not even now am able to do this.

Fortunately, I found this place where I can post and share about the problem I’m facing. I have setup Live Alerts, so that I receive a message in Live Messenger and also an email when there is a post or solution to my question.

let’s see… Whether I shall reinstall Vista RC1 or try someother workarounds!
(You got any solutions??)

Update: Hmm. You know what, I connect to the Internet with my GPRS data modem (my mobile) which uses proxy for data transfer and I guess Vista RC1 wasn’t prepared for that. I was able to activate once I connected directly with the Internet.

[Sorry I was little late in posting this information.]

How wonderful Vista RC 1 is available but the end user gets screwed into believing they can test the product and install it without any problem then you have to try and activate the dam thing only to find out the Prodcution Key Microsoft gave you with the ISO Download which is contained within the Setup, cfg only allows you access and fails to register the activation,

The you find out you must buy the license trial the software until May 5th 2007

Maybe we should all sue Microsoft and there developers for trillions and a free version to use for two years and a new computer system in compensation for misleading facts on their website i wonder how quick they pull the product off the market

Not a happy chappy spent all night wasting my time with another america product that does not work and cost me money in internet time

Dude! The problem was not with Vista. It was the internet connection as I suspected it long before. ;) Now I’m done with it!

If you haven’t got ur hands on vista yet, you are really losing a great experience!
